Ady
Hi I’m Ady, owner of Zander Events and founder of Huxley’s Bar (named after my French Bulldog).
I just love a good event! Zander Events have ran a number of bars at various events, from charity events to weddings. Our popup bar setup makes it a feasible solution for many different occasions, with bespoke options available.
Due to a recent major operation that I had, it made me realise how short our life on this planet is… and we should enjoy it!
So, I decided to bring some fun and bar quality drinks to the home, while still providing a personal touch, either by our expert online videos or in person via Zoom or Teams Call, making Huxley’s Bar available online UK wide.
I hope that you enjoy your experience with us and I welcome your feedback.
If you like us, tell others, if not, tell us.
Cheers!
Alec
Hi I’m Alec, a wine lover through food experiences.
I have ran a website, www.frusheronfood.co.uk for almost 10 years reviewing restaurants across the East Midlands. This also included the opportunity to do some fine dining and that is where I discovered the world of wine.
Since then I have undertaken the WSET levels 1, 2 and 3 which are the globally recognised set of wine qualifications. With those under my belt and the opportunity to taste lots of great wines I have been running tastings for the last 2 years.
Whilst I am a fan of most wines, I really love the classic regions of the Mosel and Burgundy but I get most excited by discovering new regions and producers.
I look forward to sharing my love of wine with you.
Last year, Alec was involved in Channel4’s, Beat The Chef. The shows were aired during May 2021 and are available on catch up. See if you can spot him 🙂
Jack
Hi I’m Jack,
I have been in the hospitality industry for over ten years now, running and tending a variety of bars, from a Belgian beer bar, an Apres ski bar, Champagne bars and busy night clubs.
I am Leicester born and bred. When I’m not running bars I love to support the independents within Leicester aswell! I love chess and spending time with my beautiful nieces and nephew.
I’m a sucker for a good negroni, but tequila is my passion. The way to my heart is a good Anejo or Reposado, in the sun with loved ones.
My passion is free styling cocktails tailor made for certain guests tastes or building unique menus for our vibrant city.
Matt
Hi, I’m Matthew.
I live in Leicester and in the daytime I am a Project Manager for the Council. I live with my wife and two teenage children and am the only person in the house who likes whisky!
I first got into single malt whisky while studying at University, when I was tempted by a bottle of Glenmorangie on special offer at the local Oddbins. I was intrigued and wanted to find out more about the then, unfashionable spirit.
Frequent family holidays to the North of Scotland have given me the chance to visit distilleries and try many whiskies. I am a member of a local whisky club that meets once a month to try on average 5 whiskies. The club has been in existence for 10 years, so my maths tells me that the number of different whiskies I have sampled is “loads”.
I also enjoy wine, cooking, cycling, watching Leicester City FC and my children’s football teams.
I look forward to sharing my whisky knowledge with you online.
Mike
Hi I’m Mike, wine lover and enthusiast.
My journey with wine started when I was a child – although I didn’t really like it at the time! We used to go on family trips to see my Uncle, and at dinner he’d always bring out a wine from under the stairs and always with an exciting story. Invariably, the stories ended with my Aunt having to carry her bodyweight in wine as they traipsed across France!
I started to get more serious as I got older. I’ve been running wine tastings for about 6 years, as well as attending them at any opportunity! I’ve completed WSET levels 1 and 2 and am planning to do level 3 next.
I’m fascinated by the variety and history of wine, but above all else it’s the shared experiences which make wine most enjoyable and memorable.
